Face the music - with Kammerakademie Potsdam Kammerakademie Potsdam 07.07. - 08.07.2023
The concert format 1:1 CONCERTS can be experienced for the first time in Potsdam in July, after having enchanted many people all over the world in more than 20,000 benefit concerts over the last three years. On the occasion of the festival “Face the Music” - the Kammerakademie Potsdam invites you to a multifaceted musical weekend around questions of the future. What does classical music have to do with social justice? How can we make the climate crisis audible? (How) can deceleration succeed? Accompanying the artistic programme is the conference "Developing the Orchestra Sustainably" at RIFS Potsdam (Research Institute for Sustainability - Helmholtz Centre Potsdam).
In a 1:1 CONCERT, 1 musician and 1 listener meet for 10 minutes of music. This "musical blind date" is a surprise for both sides, because the artist, composer, work or instrument are not revealed in advance. Which piece will be played is decided by the musician individually in the "moment": a one-minute wordless eye contact is the impulse for a very personal concert at eye level and an intensive shared experience with the musicians of the Kammerakademie Potsdam.
The specific concert venue remains a secret until the concert booking! Two Potsdam institutions are opening their doors: Nachhaltigkeitsinstitut RIFS Potsdam (Sustainability Institute of Potsdam RIFS) and the Waschhaus Potsdam. Whether on a roof terrace, in a clubhouse or underground car park - let us surprise you!
Admission is free, donations are requested. We are supporting the project Kultür Potsdam which enables people on low incomes to attend Potsdam's cultural, sports and leisure events free of charge and makes culture accessible to all.
