1:1 CONCERTS e.V., the Staatsorchester Stuttgart and the SWR Symphonieorchester are jointly organizing a festival weekend: on July 24 and 25, 2021, over 500 performances at more than 20 venues in Stuttgart with 100 artists.

Impressionen vom Festival

The festival is based on the idea of the 1:1 CONCERTS format, which at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in spring 2020 enabled the first real concert experiences - for one guest and one musician at a safe distance . 1:1 CONCERTS, which had already been tested at the chamber music festival in Volkenroda Monastery in Thuringia before the pandemic, began their journey around the world in Stuttgart a year ago. Over 1,000 of these intimate musical encounters have taken place here, and more than 8,000 of these concerts have been performed internationally. For the 1:1 FESTIVAL in Stuttgart, the principle of personal encounters between one artist and one spectator will be expanded so that artists from all performing arts will join the newly named 1:1 PERFORMANCES - with dance, drama, puppetry, artistry and much more.

A 1:1 PERFORMANCE is a wordless encounter between guest and artist and it lasts approximately 10 minutes. An opening eye contact is the impulse for a personal, individual performance - an intense experience for both sides that enables proximity at a distance. Who will perform? That remains a surprise. Unusual terrain is also conquered with the venues - an art gallery, a building site, a vantage point with a view over Stuttgart, a museum or even on a farm.

All of this is for a good cause: the 1:1 FESTIVAL gives freelance artists a paid stage, and all voluntary donations made during the festival weekend are used to sustainably strengthen the Stuttgart art scene. In solidarity, the musicians of the Stuttgart State Orchestra and the SWR Symphony Orchestra will once again raise donations for their freelance colleagues.

Admission to the performances is free and on a voluntary donation basis.
